The Olympics is a major international sporting event consisting of both summer and winter sports events.Thousands of athletes from all over the world take part in various competitions The creation of the modern-day Olympic Games is inspired by the ancient Olympic Games held in Olympia, Greece from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD. Baron Pierre de Coubertin founded the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894, leading to the first modern Olympic Games in Athens in 1896.


International Olympic Day – 23 June 2021

The IOC is the governing body of the Olympic movement and its structure and powers are defined by the Olympic Charter. International Olympic Day was introduced in 1948 to promote participation in sports around the world, regardless of age, gender or athletic ability. International Olympic Day is celebrated every year on 23 June to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Games.

World Olympic Day is based on the three pillars Move, Learn and Discover. NOCs are deploying sporting, cultural and educational activities that address all, regardless of age, gender, social background or sporting ability. In some countries, this phenomenon is included in the school curriculum. Many NOCs have added concerts and exhibitions as a part of Olympic Day in recent years.

India is actively participating in Olympics for many years. India participated in Olympics for the first time in 1900. Despite many years of participation, India has not won a good medal in recent times. Has made its mark over the years. Encourages more and more people to participate in sports competitions
